...that we at Cal Stage would like to share with you. We
get a fairly diverse group of questions over a single day, and sometimes, the
sources for the answers are equally diverse.
Some of the resources listed are easily utilized with your web
browser, others require email, and some require a newsreading application.
The Web: The
backbone of the Internet, the World Wide Web contains far too many resources to
list here, but we'll offer a short list that you may find of interest.
www.ocartsource.org : A great resource for those
in Orange County, CA.
www.realistatheatre.com : A new
local Children's Theatre, the Realistas offer classes, productions, and good
theatrical training for OC youth.
www.scr.org : Orange County's Tony Award
Winning theatre company, in their renovated digs near South Coast Plaza.
(I've you've got a theatre company or similar
organization you'd like to see here, give us a call at (714) 966 - 1852.
Ask for the webmaster.)
Stage Craft:
A
group of technicians of over 1000 strong (at the last count this webmaster
heard of), with members ranging from students to folks who play in the big
leagues of the theatre world, the Stage
Craft mailing list is a terrific resource. Posing questions from the
simple "who knows how to find this thing," to "I need to
construct a second story platform, or a pool...," the good people here
can be of immense help.
There is an excellent FAQ and subscription
page; we strongly suggest you read the Frequently Asked Questions page first!

Newsgroups:
For those of you who use or read USENET, the 'bulletin board' side of the
Internet, we offer you four different groups to choose from. (Please
note: your own ISP may not be subscribed to all of these, but you will
probably get one or two, and if you are particularly interested in one, speak
to your ISP about adding it; these are all fairly low bandwidth, no graphics,
spam free groups.
rec.arts.theatre.stagecraft
: many of the same people post/read here as in the stagecraft mailing list
above.
alt.stagecraft : a smaller circulation (on my ISP, anyways) version of
rec.arts.theatre.stagecraft.
rec.arts.theatre.plays : Dialogue
about plays, questions about them, even tickets for sale, and generic
directorially oriented questions.
rec.arts.theatre.misc : Pretty much
just that. A little bit of everything except tech.
